Event Recap – Inside the Clients Mind: Transportation Edition
May 10, 2017
A packed room of more than 150 attended this enlightening panel at the Sofitel Philadelphia on May 10 presented by SMPS Philadelphia and WTS Philadelphia. During the discussion, moderated by David Lowdermilk, PE, Vice President/Senior Area Manager, Pennsylvania Statewide Operations, WSP, attendees learned the best (and worse) practices with regard to marketing and business development activities from Diego Rincon, AAE, Deputy Director of Aviation-Capital Development, Philadelphia International Airport; and Michael P. Venuto, PE, PLS, Chief Engineer, Delaware River Port Authority. Speakers were asked questions such as PowerPoint – like it or hate it; what is your view of marketing meetings with consultants, if my firm hasn’t worked for your organization, how can we break in, and what current/future projects are they working on. Rincon and Venuto didn’t hold back as they honesty discussed tips and tricks to help your RFP response stand out from the pack, and gave insight into what keeps them up at night. Both agencies look for the most qualified consultants to completed projects for their agencies, and they are interested in hearing about what it’s like working for them, so that they can do better – the agencies are also continually looking for innovative ways of completing projects to ensure success for PHL, DRPA, and consultants.
