SMPS Philly is pleased continue our new track of programming geared to assist marketing coordinators and those new to the AEC industry in their careers. The Coordinator’s Club is designed to present basic marketing elements and tools that are instrumental to successful professional development in a more informal setting than the standard chapter programming. These low-pressure, highly collaborative sessions will be great environments for developing networking skills, and serve to jump-start development of a strong peer network.
There will be a total of five Coordinator’s Club sessions in the 2013-2014 program year; the first Coordinator’s Club session was Prezi: From A to Zoom!, the second session was on Defining Differentiators. The third offering was our Proposal Roundtable and the fourth session was on Holding Effective Meetings. Our final Coordinators Club for 203-2014 will be The Write Stuff, from BD to PR and Everything In Between.
Proposals, marketing boilerplate, websites, blogs, news releases, award submissions, white papers, e-mail correspondence, ads, LinkedIn announcements, tweets—you name it—are part of our everyday life on the job.
Every word has meaning, whether you are promoting your company’s brand, services and/or knowledge to a general or select audience. The greatest challenge we face is how to develop content and alter tone and writing style to match the communication vehicle and support its associated goal.
This fast-paced one-hour session will immediately render you a more technically proficient writer by:
1. Reviewing text mechanics such as grammar, punctuation and word usage
2. Providing guidelines for gathering content for a wide range of writing applications
3. Demonstrating how to tailor that content to suit the medium and successfully communicate your message
